our story

why i created iep reviewer

IEP Reviewer was created after years of navigating the special education system as the parent of a son with severe autism.Like many parents, I attended countless CSE meetings, reviewed hundreds of pages of educational records, communicated with school staff, consulted with advocates, and even hired attorneys when difficult situations arose. Along the way, I learned how overwhelming the process can be and how difficult it is for parents to understand what is actually contained within an IEP and other educational records.I created IEP Reviewer to help other New York families better understand their child's educational program, identify important questions, organize concerns, and prepare for productive school meetings. My goal is not to replace attorneys, advocates, or school staff, but to provide parents with practical information and educational insights that can help them feel more informed, organized, and confident as they advocate for their child.Every family's journey is different, but no parent should feel like they have to navigate the IEP process alone.

I'm the proud parent of a son with profound autism
